Are you feeling overwhelmed right now?

Life can be challenging at times and you may be juggling the demands of a hectic work and home life. Perhaps you have additional caring responsibilities - or maybe you’re struggling with health issues of your own?

I’ve been a Reflexologist - specialising in Women's Health - for over 21 years and love helping women to optimise their health and wellbeing.

Since experiencing the ‘challenges’ of menopause for myself (and taking additional training in this field), I'm also passionate about supporting anyone currently navigating this transition!

I offer a range of nurturing treatments, including Reflexology, Facial Reflexology, Hot Stone Reflexology and Zone Face Lift - natural skin rejuvenation.

All wellbeing sessions promote deep relaxation - enabling you to 'switch off' and leave all the pressures of daily life behind.

Welcome. Room 1

Clare Minter Therapies is located between Saffron Walden and Thaxted, in north Essex.

My tranquil and cosy therapy room is easily reached from Stansted, Bishops Stortford, Haverhill and Great Dunmow.

Free off-road parking is available right outside.

Why choose reflexology?

Reflexology is a gentle holistic therapy that may be supportive for a wide variety of common health complaints including:

  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Digestive problems
  • Joint and muscular pain
  • Headaches and migraine
  • Hormone imbalance
  • Perimenopause/menopause

Treatments do not claim to cure, but work in a gentle way to activate your body’s own natural healing systems.

Specialised reflexology sessions are available for Pregnancy and Fertility.

  • "I had a really wonderful first time reflexology appointment with Clare. She spent plenty of time asking about my health first and then gave lots of useful advice. The treatment room is lovely, peaceful and comfortable and I very much enjoyed the reflexology. I felt so relaxed afterwards and felt some improvement in my back pain. I’ve already booked my next appointment!"

    Reflexology for Fertility

    Struggling to conceive?

It can take a healthy couple up to twelve months to conceive…

So if you’re feeling anxious because things haven’t happened for you just yet, why not see if reflexology could help?

Treatments may help to relieve stress, which is known to be detrimental to the reproductive process.

Over the past fifteen years I’ve been delighted to have seen many wonderful outcomes - both natural and assisted conception.

Reflexology for Fertility treatments may help to:

  • Relieve feelings of anxiety
  • Reduce stress hormones
  • Promote better sleep
  • Lift low mood
  • Support you through your assisted conception journey (IVF, ICSI, FET)

    Maternity Reflexology

Can having reflexology result in an easier labour?

I’ve been a Maternity Reflexologist for over twenty years and feel very privileged to have supported hundreds of expectant mums through their pregnancies.

Pregnancy reflexology sessions are a nurturing experience for any mum-to-be and can be a wonderful way to connect with your little one.

    * Research has shown that reflexology in the later stages of pregnancy may lead to women requiring less pain relief and having faster birthing times

    * G. Motha and J. McGrath - 1992 "The effects of reflexology on labour outcome".

So having some regular reflexology treatments towards the end of your pregnancy, may result in you having an easier labour!

But there’s no need to wait, as treatments may help ease many common pregnancy discomforts, including Nausea/Morning Sickness, Constipation, Heartburn/Acid Reflex and Pelvic Girdle Pain.

Pregnancy Reflexology treatments may help to:

  • Ease discomfort
  • Promote better sleep
  • Relax and prepare you (physically and emotionally) for birth
  • Relieve muscular tension - towards the end of pregnancy this may encourage the onset of natural labour

  • If you’d like to prepare for the best possible birth experience, please get in touch here.

    Balancing Hormones

As women, we’re governed by hormones, that fluctuate widely throughout our lives!

The action of hormones causes powerful physiological changes within the body.

Extreme hormone imbalance may cause a more complex health condition, such as Endometriosis or PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome).

Unfortunately this may make conception more difficult - you can find out more about Reflexology for Fertility here

Bloating, Breast Tenderness and Irritability may occur before a menstrual bleed, but if symptoms persist for a large part of your cycle, this could be a sign of PMS (Pre Menstrual Syndrome).

    Reflexology treatments may help to:

  • Encourage deep relaxation
  • Lift low mood
  • Ease muscular tension and help reduce pain
  • Calm cortisol production and naturally balance hormones

  • Feedback from clients following their treatments has shown:

  • A reduction in pre-menstrual pain
  • Regulation of the menstrual cycle
  • A more condensed flow
  • Reduced bloating
  • Improved mood

    Perimenopause and Menopause

    Struggling with Hot Flushes/Night Sweats?

Menopause can be a time of emotional upheaval, but it may be physically challenging too…

It's hard to exist on just a few hours sleep, when you’re trying to cope with work and family responsibilities.

You may be affected by just a few, or many of the numerous symptoms of perimenopause that include:

    • Irregular or Missed Periods
    • Scant or Heavy Menstrual Flow
    • Hot Flushes
    • Night Sweats
    • Insomnia
    • Bloating
    • Loss of Libido
    • Brain Fog

    • Body Odour
    • Vaginal Dryness
    • Dry Eyes/Mouth/Skin
    • Hair Loss
    • Bladder Problems
    • Anxiety
    • Low Mood
    • Reduced Confidence

If you’re over the age of 40, declining hormone levels are usually to blame and symptoms are seen as a natural part of the ageing process.

But this doesn’t make it any easier and if you feel your quality of life is being affected, seek help as this is now more widely available.

If you’re keen to try an holistic approach, some calming reflexology can be an effective way to relieve the anxiety you may be feeling.

During an initial Reflexology for Menopause session, we’ll explore how simple lifestyle changes can reinforce the effectiveness of the treatment and help you cope better with this stage of life.

You may also wish to visit your GP to discuss other options…

Reflexology works well alongside Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and provides additional calming support.

    * Research has shown that reflexology can reduce vasomotor symptoms (hot flushes/night sweats) and improve the quality of life for menopausal women

    * (E. Gozuyesil, M. Baser, Complement Ther Clin Pract. 2016 Aug;24:78-85. doi: 10.1016/j.ctcp.2016.05.011. Epub 2016 May)

Reflexology for Menopause treatments may help to:

  • Promote restful sleep
  • Encourage deep relaxation
  • Relieve anxiety
  • Reduce Hot Flushes/Night Sweats
  • Lift low mood
  • Enhance a sense of wellbeing

  • Please get in touch here to book your first session.
